Until Kingdom Come

27 Feb

words eminating

from sandy shells

it’s not music you say

just noise drowned out

by vultures and gulls

on an enormous rock
she sits
staring into space
only the stars she cannot

the melody is heard
as she gracefully
sways to the calming
the ones she has heard many times

”rescue me”
she whispers
the chopper hovers over her
though by no surprise
she refuses
to lift her delicate

it’s too late
all is sealed
in a time capsule
only to be reopened
in kingdom come

Incredibly powerful write, chanzi. I like how you begin with the second person and then continue in the 3rd. You’ve created a haunting mood, here.

I am a huge fan of the Hunger Games, so your background was such a treat. I like your last stanza the best. Oh, and “surprise” is misspelled.

(Love Hunger Games) I was rooting for rescue from the moment you brought in the choppers. Well written.
